{"id":1781,"date":"2010-12-07T09:51:19","date_gmt":"2010-12-07T16:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=1781"},"modified":"2025-11-02T21:42:04","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T04:42:04","slug":"how-a-man-drives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=1781","title":{"rendered":"How a man drives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>When I leave for work and head for the freeway I&#8217;m reminded daily of driving choices that people make.\u00a0 The freeway I use has two entrances, one going East and one going West.\u00a0 Both are right turns, one at the signal and the other at the stop sign after the signal. \u00a0 There is no right turn only lane for the on-ramp at the signal.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>So this means when you&#8217;re going straight and come up to this red light you can choose from two lanes.\u00a0 In one lane you will block anyone behind you from turning right onto the freeway (note.. this is a T street, there is NO opposing traffic to watch for when turning right)\u00a0 But if you chose the other lane you&#8217;ll have to change into that lane to catch the other on-ramp and possibly deal with anyone who&#8217;s decided to block the people behind him to try &amp; beat you to the exit.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>With me so far?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>OK.. I always choose the left lane, leaving it open for those cars turning right onto the freeway.\u00a0\u00a0 My Ex ALWAYS chose the right lane.\u00a0 Always.\u00a0 Even after I explained how kinda selfish it is to block people like that.\u00a0 He theorized, this was the proper lane because he was turning right at the next stop sign and blocking others was nothing to him.\u00a0 Even with no one in that left lane, he&#8217;d rather block another.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>This is a classic example of who we are as people reflected in how we drive.\u00a0 He drives slow, methodically, thinking of other drivers only as obstacles to avoid.\u00a0 This is also how he treats people, with observation, minimal interaction and low tolerance of those he considers &#8220;stupid&#8221;.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>So, of course,\u00a0\u00a0 his chosen career is Independent Insurance Agent.
