{"id":1805,"date":"2010-12-19T10:58:30","date_gmt":"2010-12-19T17:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=1805"},"modified":"2025-11-02T21:38:20","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T04:38:20","slug":"out-of-the-mouths","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=1805","title":{"rendered":"Out of the mouths&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>My uncle Jay is a little mentally challenged.\u00a0 He was oxygen deprived at birth and as the youngest, wasn&#8217;t given any grown-up abilities or responsibilities. <\/strong><\/span><strong>Since my mom got knocked up with me when she was 20 and her baby brother was 6, he&#8217;s very close to my age.<\/strong> <strong>So he&#8217;s in his early 50&#8217;s these days. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>My mother&#8217;s sister, Laura, is supposed to be in charge of his money (and doing a shitty job of it because she can&#8217;t keep her bitterness out of the transactions) so if he wants to see family for Xmas it has to go through her.\u00a0 So my mother tells me of a conversation she had with her brother Jay over this.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>JAY<\/em>: <\/strong>Laura says I&#8217;m going to Mom&#8217;s for Christmas&#8230; I thought I was going to Mary&#8217;s?<strong> <em>(his 3rd of 4 sisters).<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>My Mom<\/em>: <\/strong>Well, the Executive Decision makers decided it would be better if you came out here to Mom&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>JAY<\/em>: <\/strong>Oh, Maaan!\u00a0 Why aren&#8217;t I ever involved in these decisions?<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>My Mom<\/em>: <\/strong>You told us you couldn&#8217;t leave before the 21st because you had a prior commitment, so this was the best we could do.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>JAY<\/em>: <\/strong>Well&#8230; there&#8217;s a hockey game on the 19th and I&#8217;ll need the 20th to recover from my hangover<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>HA!!\u00a0 Nice to have such clear priorities!!<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My uncle Jay is a little mentally challenged.\u00a0 He was oxygen deprived at birth and as the youngest, wasn&#8217;t given any grown-up abilities or responsibilities.
