When I was in college I was in a sorority.\u00a0 We weren’t a very good sorority in the sense of being very enthusiastic about Greek life.\u00a0 Basically nothing like you saw in Legally Blonde!\u00a0 lol\u00a0 We were just a group of girls, living together while going to college.\u00a0 With the exception of having weekly House Meetings and the occasional Formal Party, we really didn’t do much other than eat, sleep, study or talk.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My cohort Mary & a "hostage"<\/p><\/div>\n

But it was Iowa City and it was the 80’s and well, freaking COLD!\u00a0 And sometimes we got bored.\u00a0 On one such a day my friend Mary and I decided we should take our Pledge Mom’s to breakfast.\u00a0 (Every new member gets an older member assigned as her Pledge Mom to help her learn to be a sorority girl. Yes,\u00a0 you have just been Greek’d!)\u00a0 Mary and I wanted to express our appreciation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh but we couldn’t just invite them.\u00a0 Nope, not us.\u00a0 We stole into their rooms and stole their favorite stuffed animals, tied them up, hid them in<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Hostage<\/p><\/div>\n

the house and spent the afternoon cutting out words from magazine & newspapers to make together ransom notes.\u00a0 You know.. the usual.\u00a0 “If you ever want to see your precious loved one again.. meet us at Perkins Sunday at 7am.\u00a0 No cops… NO COPS!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Sunday came, Mary and I snuck out of the house and to Perkins we went.\u00a0 When we walked in, the hostess said, “Table for two?”\u00a0 With a smile I said, “No, table for six, two booster chairs please.” \u00a0 She hesitated for only a minute!Good girl!
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mary and I tied the “hostages” to the booster chairs and fielded questions from the other Perkins patrons.\u00a0 “Is this a fraternity prank?” etc. <\/strong><\/p>\n

When Bobbi (who goes by Lynn now) showed up she explained<\/strong><\/p>\n

Disguise<\/p><\/div>\n

that Deb had a cold so couldn’t make it.\u00a0 We had a lovely breakfast and afterword we showed Bobbi how Mary and I had disguised the getaway car.<\/strong><\/p>\n

All this… cuz we were bored, college students.\u00a0 I swear\u00a0 did I learn ANYTHING in school?
