And no, we weren\u2019t drunk…we were in Minnesota!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So we decided to get started on dinner (for 16)\u00a0 One of the frozen lasagnas was to go\u00a0in the oven at the Log Cabin.\u00a0 Three fully capable mother’s took on the daunting task.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

My sister, Erin was holding her 2 year old, Arden while my sister-in-law, Holly and I were blissfully free of children.\u00a0 All of us in the spacious kitchen of my family 1920’s log cabin.\u00a0 <\/span>Holly read the instructions for the lasagna to me.\u00a0 First instruction…set the oven to 400 degrees.\u00a0 <\/span>So Erin promptly turned the dial as she said at the same time, \u201cThis isn\u2019t one of those light the pilot ones, is it?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYeah\u201d I said, \u201cUnless the pilot is already lit.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So Erin grabs the lighter and I open the grill door to see if the pilot is lit.\u00a0 <\/span>I get a big whiff of gas and say, \u201cWhew!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Erin handed me the lighter in a rush and says, \u201cOh! Well then hurry!\u00a0 <\/span>Hurry\u201d So I clicked the lighter on, which took a few seconds because its child proofed up to the age of 50, and WHOOOSH!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All I see is a quick blue edged nimbus and sparks.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>All I heard was an \u201cOh! Sissy!\u201d from Erin.\u00a0\u00a0 As a writer I was thinking…’wow, look at that.’<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Holly hadn’t actually seen anything having wisely turned away before I lit the oven to \u201cduck and cover\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We’re all in shock and all I can think to say is, \u201cAm I on fire?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Without missing a beat Erin said, \u201cNot anymore.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I looked up at Holly and she had her sweater bunched up at her mouth and I realized she was laughing.\u00a0 <\/span>The absurdity of the moment hit me and I started cracking up.\u00a0 <\/span>Erin starts laughing too but she was also trying to find out if I\u2019m o.k. between the giggling.\u00a0 Arden thought it was a great game.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m fine\u201d, I say all blas\u00e9 about it.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI just wanted to add a little burnt Heather to the lasagna\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Then they get a good look at my hair and they start laughing even harder.\u00a0 <\/span>By now we are laughing so hard we might as well be high!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Still laughing I manage to get out, \u201cDo I still have my eyebrows!\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I’d singed all the flyaway strands of my long hair on the right side of my head and crisped up the ends of my bangs.\u00a0 <\/span>The whole kitchen smelled like burnt hair.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cThank God for glasses!\u201d I yelled loudly to even be heard over the laughter the three of us were practically doubled over.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a little hard to try and de-singe my hair without scissors and with the three of use laughing over the whole situation.\u00a0 <\/span>My mother-in-law was in the living room reading a book.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cIsn\u2019t it nice that the three of them are so close they can laugh like that,\u201d she thought.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She had no idea what we found so funny!<\/span><\/p>\n
