{"id":2471,"date":"2011-08-31T09:19:55","date_gmt":"2011-08-31T16:19:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=2471"},"modified":"2025-11-02T18:03:18","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T01:03:18","slug":"oh-yeah-its-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=2471","title":{"rendered":"Oh yeah&#8230; its Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>And it says something that Monday was so &#8220;echt&#8221; that I&#8217;m not getting around to finishing this blog and posting it until <strong>WEDNESDAY!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sigh.\u00a0 But more importantly Monday is\/was (dammit!) the first day of school.<\/p>\n<p>But the Ex had the kids for the weekend so it was up to him to deal with it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve done all I can.\u00a0 I got them haircuts.\u00a0 I got the middle one new shoes.\u00a0 I had them pack everything I could remember for them on Friday so they&#8217;d have it for today.\u00a0 I asked the oldest if he had enough medication for the weekend,\u00a0 including Monday.\u00a0 Yes! the reply.<\/p>\n<p>Yet on Friday night, as I was straightening up my house from the mess I TRY to get them to tidy up before they leave (!),\u00a0 I realized neither the oldest nor the middle son had their school schedules.\u00a0 Since the oldest was starting high school, YIKES! \u00a0 (9th grade)\u00a0 And the middle one was starting Middle School for the first time, both of these boys needed their list of classes.<\/p>\n<p>So, Good Mommy sent an email to the Ex with the schedules and instructions to have the oldest take an extra pill on Sunday night so he&#8217;d be calm during school.\u00a0 (All before my date for the evening arrived)<\/p>\n<p>AND that didn&#8217;t happen. lol.\u00a0 Instead he somehow didn&#8217;t have enough pills.\u00a0 Misunderstood my instruction (and the Ex apparently didn&#8217;t supervise even after I emailed him same instruction) to take an extra pill on Sunday so he&#8217;d be calm on his first day of school, since his higher dose isn&#8217;t back from the\u00a0 pharmacy yet.\u00a0\u00a0 For some reason he took it on Saturday and therefor didn&#8217;t have any pill on Sunday.\u00a0 The Ex felt the solution to this was to call my Mother (the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) and ask her to violate ethics and risk losing her medical license by writing a prescription for him to fill.\u00a0 OMG!<\/p>\n<p>But its nice he keeps reminding me of the reasons I happily divorced his ass.. really it is&#8230; soooooo considerate!\u00a0 He didn&#8217;t bother calling or texting ME over this dilemma which was amusing as I&#8217;d have just told him to go to my house &amp; get more pills!\u00a0 Instead my mother left a message on my cell phone late Sunday night with the whole story &amp; leaving me with the impression the Ex was stopping at my house before school drop off to pick up a pill.<\/p>\n<p>So I rush home from the gym early to be there and no one shows up.\u00a0 Assuming maybe he&#8217;ll drop off the hysterical oldest at work, I head on out and worry for about 3 hours.\u00a0 No kid.\u00a0 And no phone call after I left a message on his cell asking what&#8217;s up?\u00a0 Where&#8217;s kid? etc.\u00a0 Like I said.. soooo considerate!<\/p>\n<p>My day is going along and then the youngest&#8217;s school nurse calls me.\u00a0 Conor has a strange rash on the back of\u00a0 his knees and she&#8217;s worried its contagious.\u00a0 What?!\u00a0 With only 30 minutes left of school.. really?!?\u00a0 I tell her to just keep him there &amp; I&#8217;ll pick him up first.\u00a0 But it means I have to park &amp; walk into the office, not just drive by and have him jump in the car.\u00a0 Grrrrrrr.<\/p>\n<p>That was the irritating parts.\u00a0 The good parts were that the oldest made it through fine.\u00a0 Apparently his father found an old dose of 10mg (he&#8217;s on 20mg soon to be on 30mg) and gave him two pills.\u00a0 Gee.. he couldn&#8217;t have informed anyone of that?\u00a0 Especially since I gave the oldest a does when he got home thinking he needed it!\u00a0 Criminy!\u00a0 Oh wait.. we were talking about the good.<\/p>\n<p>Turns out the youngest had a heat rash.\u00a0 Stupid Nurse.\u00a0 My Mother&#8217;s co-workers at USC were baffled a school nurse didn&#8217;t realize that was Eczema\/heat rash and NOT contagious.\u00a0 I told her.. I doubt she&#8217;s an actual &#8220;nurse&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>But the best part of the day.\u00a0\u00a0 Some big kid tried to steal my middle son&#8217;s lunch money.\u00a0 My middle son who&#8217;d been bullied for years but finally stood up to the bullies.\u00a0 Who&#8217;s visibly lost weight since going to the gym (and well, puberty and natural growing is helping!).\u00a0 Who I was sooo worried would back up into his shy shell in the new environment of middle school, so I bought him a funny t-shirt to wear on the first day&#8230; <em>&#8220;Dear Math, I&#8217;m not a therapist, solve your own problems.&#8221;<\/em> (he loves it)<\/p>\n<p>Instead when the bully demanded Evan give him his lunch money, Evan peppered him with questions until the bully backed away confused.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t you have lunch money?&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;Why do you need my lunch money&#8221;\u00a0 &#8220;Then what will I do for lunch?&#8221; &#8220;That&#8217;s the most ridiculous thing I&#8217;ve ever heard!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When Evan relayed this story to me, I was so proud of him I announced, &#8220;Well, you get a Dollar for that!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hope I didn&#8217;t set a precedent I couldn&#8217;t afford!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>And it says something that Monday was so &#8220;echt&#8221; that I&#8217;m not getting around to finishing this blog and posting it until WEDNESDAY!!!
