For those who’ve read the blog or are still reading the blog you’re familiar with my previous post about my shy, middle son’s battle in six grade against the bullies.<\/p>\n
Well, over the course of that year, while school itself became challenging, handling the bullies became the one thing he was good at.\u00a0 And over the summer, I think he grew an inch, slimmed down in a bit in his body and face and just gained lots of confidence.<\/p>\n
Yesterday I bought him a cell phone.\u00a0 He turned to me and said, “Mom, having this cell phone, well, it makes me feel… well….”<\/p>\n
“Grown up?” I offer.\u00a0 “More mature?\u00a0 Responsible?”<\/p>\n
“Yea,” he says with a grin.\u00a0 Then begins to tell me about his latest adventures with the bullies at middle school.<\/p>\n
On my Monday\/Wednesday post I related Evan’s first run-in with a bully.\u00a0 Today he told me about seeing the one kid who bullied him the most all last year.\u00a0 Andre.\u00a0\u00a0 Andre was hanging with a bunch of other kids who were bullies, all Armenians.\u00a0 (Yup, I racially profiled there, but living the truth, baby!)<\/p>\n
Andre sees Evan and he gives a little yelp and quickly walks away!\u00a0 By the end of last year Andre had told Evan he’s giving up bullying him because he just can’t be bullied.\u00a0 This year Andre didn’t even want to TRY!<\/p>\n
The amusing part of it all!\u00a0 The other bullies are bullied by Andre.\u00a0 So when they see Andre afraid of Evan…. well, they’ll be steering clear of MY son!<\/p>\n
So I asked my empowered boy.\u00a0 “And so what do you do when you see someone getting bullied by these bullies?”<\/p>\n
“Well, when all the bullies ran because Andre ran, I saw one of them accidentally run into a kid.\u00a0 He growled at the kid like he was going to hit him.\u00a0 I walked over and told him he’s not supposed to bully anyone.\u00a0 And he just went away.”<\/p>\n
Beyond my own pride.\u00a0 And I’m Bursting with it!!!<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 I could see how proud he was of himself.\u00a0\u00a0 He seems to really like middle school.<\/p>\n Of course to hear him tell it, that’s because of the “Intensely wonderful Hamburgers!!!”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" For those who’ve read the blog or are still reading the blog you’re familiar with my previous post about my shy, middle son’s battle in six grade against the bullies.
