God I love my kids.\u00a0 They are endless sources of love and, more obviously, of amusement!<\/p>\n
First day of school after a long weekend and its no surprise they slept late.\u00a0 Rushing them through a quick breakfast and out the door they’re all grumpy except Luke.\u00a0 Nice to see the medication toning down his high anxiety enough so his natural positive spirit can shine through.<\/p>\n
Pulling to the curb to drop the youngest (10 now) off to school for breakfast, I manage to get out an “I love you” before he slams the door.\u00a0 And grin as I see more than hear him say, “I hate you” in reply.<\/p>\n
“Ah.. and so we see a peak of puberty’s mood swings!”\u00a0 I announce to the car.<\/p>\n
“What are you talking about,” says Evan, “he’s always angry.”<\/p>\n
“Ha! That’s nothing,”\u00a0 I answer the 12 year old, “compared to the mood swings he’ll have in 2 years when he’s 12!”<\/p>\n
Continuing the conversation as we drive to Luke’s drop off, I speculate that Conor with his ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) is the most likely of my 3 to die his gorgeous red hair black, wear eyeliner & pierce something!<\/p>\n
My “I love you” to Luke is met with a smile and a “I love you too,” and an over-enthusiastic slam of the made-of-tinfoil door of my little Corrolla.<\/p>\n
On the way to Evan’s drop off, he says, “are you saying Conor is going to get MORE irritating!”<\/p>\n
I laugh at him as he’s completely missing the irony that HE is 12 and HE is moody and HE is BEING moody at this very moment.\u00a0 Of course, I’m giving him the usual lecture of “take notes or no electronic time” so he’s frowning at me.<\/p>\n
As he gets out I grin big at him and say, “I love you!”<\/p>\n
“Meh.” is his reply….<\/p>\n
But he grins at me too.<\/p>\n
