There are some things you own because you just love them.\u00a0 And everyone has favorites.\u00a0 But the most joyous thing in the world is to share your favorite with others and watch them either say, “Wow!”\u00a0 or “I KNOW… I love that too!”<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

So in the interest of communal bonding over favorites, here are mine.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Top of the list of movies I will re-watch over and over again in glee is GalaxyQuest.\u00a0\u00a0 As a science fiction fan, who not only watched the Star Trek originals as a child and all\u00a0its followings\u00a0spin offs, this\u00a0in the best genre parady I’ve ever seen.\u00a0 (I’m watching it right now as I write this!\u00a0 And laughing my ass off.)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I was never a “Trekkie”\u00a0and I didn’t go to conventions until I was in my 40’s but I’ve always love the “if it was real and we got there” scenarios.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The shock of their arrival and seeing all the good guys and tentacled monsters with probing tools!\u00a0 OMG and when\u00a0Tony Shaloub arrives, stoned and unaffected, while the others scream in shock!\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The writing is excellent and the acting is suberb.\u00a0 Add to it the comic timing and ocasional pratfall and this is a movie\u00a0for popcorn, alcohol and adults!\u00a0 I\u00a0really love it most when the conventions show it in the movie rooms.\u00a0\u00a0 In a whole room of fans, priceless!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Best movie on religion… Dogma hands down.\u00a0 Again with Alan Rickman and OMG is he funny in this film.\u00a0 I adore the writing of\u00a0Kevin Smith (although you have to adjust to his over use of cuss words.)\u00a0 And with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, Salma Hayak and Chris Rock it is wonderful to watch.\u00a0\u00a0It hits you right of with George Carlin as a\u00a0Catholic Priest pitching the new, hip image of Jesus… Buddy Christ!\u00a0\u00a0 I have a Buddy Christ figure it was sooo funny.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Favorite musical (and I don’t really like musicals but I love this film and it needs a category)\u00a0is Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.\u00a0\u00a0 Joss Whedon’s project during the writer’s strike is a short little hysterical film about a good guy becoming an evil genius to join the Evil League of Evil.\u00a0 It’s incredibly crafted, amazingly sung and outright funny!\u00a0 It might still be on the internet but I know the DVD is available.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I’ll recommend a kids movie with the best message ever.\u00a0 Meet the Robinsons is a typical Disney flick but the message is unique.\u00a0 It celebrates the glory of mistakes.\u00a0 Because mistakes mean you tried and\u00a0now you have something to\u00a0learn from.\u00a0\u00a0 I try to get the kids to watch it once a year.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I will recommend my favorite Christmas film.\u00a0 The Santa Clause (sense the theme, Tim Allen & Alan Rickman).\u00a0 Again the lovely sentiment that somehow it’s real.\u00a0\u00a0 Nice slapstick, funny lines and I love the way he “grows” into Santa Clause.\u00a0 I really wanted to see the second movie have his girlfriend “grow” into Mrs. Clause, but they botched it.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

So those are the ones I love to share.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Aah but those are just the movies!\u00a0 Next will be television series!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
