We all live in the Land of Lawyers.\u00a0 Southern California being the Holy Land of Lawyers.\u00a0 And it has definitely shaped\u00a0the current\u00a0generation.\u00a0\u00a0 When we were kids we would NEVER think of uttering a cuss word because it didn’t even have to\u00a0get back to your parents.\u00a0\u00a0If\u00a0ANY adult heard you say that you were\u00a0in sooooo much trouble and they either dished it out themselves or made sure\u00a0you\u00a0got it from your parents.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Today, heaven forbid if I\u00a0tell a kid NOT to throw sand in the air or leave a bench to pester someone\u00a0else when he’s supposed to be sitting quietly.\u00a0 I’M the one who gets chastised for daring to correct your brat’s behavior.\u00a0 Which is crazy because that’s what living in a\u00a0group society is all about…. the ability to say “that bothers the group,\u00a0don’t do it.”<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I think a great solution is a Lottery.\u00a0 A lottery where you win the right for life (okay, maybe for a year… although I like for life better) to never be able to be sued in Civil Court.\u00a0\u00a0Of course real crimes\u00a0like burglary or homicide or any of those obvious things would be exempt.\u00a0\u00a0But you could walk over and smack someone who needed it and not get sued for assault.\u00a0 You could\u00a0say or do anything and not get sued for slander or copyright violation.\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course we would HAVE to include the right to be publicly nude or to NEVER be bleeped by the censors.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0With the\u00a0Lawsuit Lottery you’d be an instant hit on\u00a0television because\u00a0any show you’d be on would draw rating\u00a0just to see the censors turn purple.\u00a0 \u00a0Can you imagine how many people would play,\u00a0just for that opportunity! \u00a0 And there would have to be some guarantee that there’d be a winner every year.\u00a0 Because they’re spending money to play with no chance of winning money.\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

And all that money could go to the schools… so more of our children can grow up to be lawyers.\u00a0 Or better yet, a fund of free legal aid!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

So let’s start that letter writing campaign….\u00a0 Dear Governor,\u00a0 I would like to see the California Lottery expanded to include a Free Pass for a Year on all Civil Lawsuit Actions.\u00a0 It should include…\u00a0\u00a0 Signed a Voter missing the “good old days”<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
