{"id":7,"date":"2009-05-29T09:10:55","date_gmt":"2009-05-29T16:10:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=7"},"modified":"2024-02-23T14:31:01","modified_gmt":"2024-02-23T21:31:01","slug":"my-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.heatherbarton.com\/?p=7","title":{"rendered":"My Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Music is something that is everywhere.\u00a0 Live, phones, radio, almost all media except print has it.\u00a0 No one can go to the gym without their music and if they forget&#8230;well the gym plays its own!\u00a0 Although sometimes&#8230;who chooses that stuff&#8230;sheesh, disco, really?!<\/p>\n<p>Gowing-up there was always music playing in my house.\u00a0 I remember the moment I realized as a teenager that perhaps the reason I was depressed all the time was because I was listening to love songs without a boyfriend!\u00a0 I quickly switched to rock and roll&#8230;much happier.<\/p>\n<p>And something we all don&#8217;t realize is the viscous cycle that is the radio.\u00a0 That&#8217;s where the new music is played&#8230;it&#8217;s where we hear new bands and new songs from our favorites.\u00a0 Yet to support our favorites we go out and buy their CDs and play them.\u00a0 And then we&#8217;re not listening to the radio anymore.\u00a0 So before we know it we&#8217;re only listening to the albums we own and maybe just a little of the radio until a commercial comes on and POW in goes our CD.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s amazing how decades can pass you by like that.<\/p>\n<p>But sometimes a life change is reflected in your choice of music.\u00a0 Well it sure is for me.\u00a0 A couple of years ago I was a firm lover of Jack FM radio (here its 93.1)\u00a0 I loved their &#8220;screw you&#8221;\u00a0attitude and they played all my old favorite songs.<\/p>\n<p>Then one day I hit on another station, an independent station.\u00a0 I liked some of their songs but fate intervened and BAM they were gone&#8230;replaced by a Spanish station.\u00a0 So I searched around because my drive to work is about 5 minutes and I never get around to actually using my CDs.\u00a0 And I hit on Star987 which almost immediately changed its format.\u00a0 They fired their morning crew and played A LOT less mushy song and more contemporary rock.\u00a0 And I was hooked.<\/p>\n<p>That music on that station is resonating with me on a level I can only explain on another blog!\u00a0 I really don&#8217;t enjoy going to a bar and listen to the 80&#8217;s and sometimes not even the 90&#8217;s music they play ANYMORE.\u00a0 I want to hear something produced in the last five years!<\/p>\n<p>So you want to know what&#8217;s floating my skirt right now&#8230;go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.star987.com\">www.star987.com<\/a> and see.\u00a0\u00a0 Oh and you should become a Rockaholic.\u00a0 You can find me there!\u00a0 Yes, my picture is someone in their Photos page because I won tickets to see Carolina Liar in the Penthouse!\u00a0 The coolest!\u00a0 I&#8217;ll have to blog about that experience later.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Music is something that is everywhere.\u00a0 Live, phones, radio, almost all media except print has it.\u00a0 No one can go to the gym without their music and if they forget&#8230;well the gym plays its own!\u00a0 Although sometimes&#8230;who chooses that stuff&#8230;sheesh, &hellip;
