Lucky Charm

Those who’ve been reading and who I talk to on FB know that I’ve won several contests from my favorite radio station Star98.7.  The Santa Monica Blvd Rooftop Halloween Party hosted by Seagram’s (omg.. did we get drunk!) Caroline Liar and New Politic at the station’s Penthouse.  The Ting Ting promotion performance.   And just recently tix to see Jimmy Eat World playing at the Wiltern in Hollywood.  Which was FANTASTIC!

I think there are others that I’m forgetting or weren’t as memorable!  haha.  But I’ve been nagging B to start getting points daily and win! Cuz when I win I can’t enter or win anything else for 30 days.   And because he loves music as much as I.

Finally I realized it would only take a few extra minutes for me to get his points and dole them out to the contests.  So he gave me his log on and I’ve been doing that for the past few days.  Although I won’t do the Rate the Rock, where you vote on songs the station plays because he needs to express his own opinion there.

And guess what?  He won!  lol.. he won tix to see a new band at the

Funeral Party

Penthouse.  Now these are the easiest tix to win because people would rather try for the big stuff than waste their chance at winning on something they’re not sure they’ll enjoy because they don’t know the band.

But I remember the Game Theory of Nash (A Beautiful Mind) and I always try for the smaller concerts just as much for the bigger ones.   And I’m proof it works!  The odds are better and winning an unknown, fun night out is better than never winning anything!

This has always been my philosophy.  I apply it to jobs, to opportunities, to dating.  I’ll go for the ideal.. but I won’t pass up on the “eh.” just because its not the perceived ideal.  And sometimes that initial “eh” surprises you and turns into the perfect ideal.  (that’s what happened to me with B)

Take a chance on ALL of it… because winning a little is better than never winning at all.  It just makes me feel loved by Fate.

Of course, B’s now convinced I’m a lucky charm!  But he’s an adorable goofball!
